Volunteer in Tanzania, Volunteer with Give a Heart To Africa (GHTA)

Give a Heart To Africa is a small business school and a volunteer organization in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania.  Our goal is to empower primarily women by providing them with a free education in English, Business and Computer skill basics.  We also assist a number of our students at the end of each semester with starting up their own business. 

We opened up a small business vocational school primarily for adult women, where we offer a free 6 month  course in English, Business Concepts  and Basic Computers Skills. These courses are taught by GHTA volunteers, under our guidance, and following a standard curriculum.  Yet your enthusiasm, passion and spirit is what will truly make the difference. You are the only reason why our students, our mamas, have a chance at having a better life. 

Every Friday we visit a couple of our students in their home to get to know our students, their needs, and to truly understand the Tanzanian culture better.  We use this time to meet their family, share a meal and chat. At the end of each course, upon graduation, we select three to five of our students and help them start their own business.  We help them financially as well as with professional advice. 

As  a volunteer, you become a part of our GHTA family.  We have dinners together, enjoy movie nights with popcorn, and nights on the town with friends.  We are also very quirky, for example, we celebrate Christmas once a month (or any other holiday) because the house we rent came with a Christmas tree and dance Bollywood to the last song of Slum Dog Millionaire. 

Another very unique feature of GHTA is that 100% of YOUR  volunteer fee goes to support our students, their businesses and your accommodation. We do not have fancy offices abroad and an administrative staff to support, because we are an organization that is run solely BY Volunteers, in Moshi, and abroad FOR the people of Moshi, Tanzania.
